Transition Zones - Works from the collection of the PLMJ Foundation was one of the Foundation’s largest exhibitions, occupying two floors of the Torreão Nascente da Cordoaria Nacional between October 2023 and January 2024. The exhibition presented around 150 works from the PLMJ Foundation’s collection, representing 90 artists, in a comprehensive overview of the collection, covering more than four decades of Portuguese-language art history.
The catalogue that accompanied the exhibition privileges views of the exhibition in space by the artist Mariano Piçarra, who lent his gaze as a perpetual visitor, allowing us to float between the frameworks of memory of this installation. The selection of works and artists includes different generations from Portuguese-speaking countries that are present in the nucleus of the collection, such as painting, drawing, artist’s books, sculpture, installation, photography and video, the last two being the origins of the collection.
