Xana (Lisbon, 1959) lives and works in Lagos. She studied Painting at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa and was a member of the Homeostatic group. In recent years, she has been noted for creating temporary public art installations and constructions, such as Chiaroscuro Libera in Via Bagnera, Milan (2018) and A Natureza do Movimento, part of the Artemar 2017 Biennial at the Cascais waterfront. Her individual exhibitions include O Falso Diário de A.B. at the Museu da Eletricidade, Lisbon (2007) and Arte Opaca e outros Fantasmas, a retrospective covering 1988–2005 at Culturgest, Lisbon (2005). Among her group exhibitions are Modos afirmativos e declinações – aspetos do desenho na década de 80 at the Museu de Évora and Fábrica da Cerveja, Faro (2001) and Coleção António Cachola – arte portuguesa anos 80-90 at MEIAC, Badajoz (2000).Her work is included in several collections, such as CAM / FCG, MAAT, Fundação Luso-Americana, the PLMJ Foundation, the Serralves Foundation (Porto), and Kunstlerhaus Mousonturm (Frankfurt).
