Born in Lisbon (1975), where he lives and works, Vasco holds a degree in sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, and attended the Advanced Course in Visual Arts at Maumaus. In 2003, he won the EDP New Artists Award.
Artistic residencies: University of Arts (2007), in Philadelphia; Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art (2007), in Gateshead; Récollets (2005), in Paris; and Core Program (2003-04), in Houston. In 2008, he was nominated for the European Artes Mundi prize, and he participated in the following Biennials: 13th Sydney Biennale (2002), 51st Venice Biennale (2005), 1st Moscow Biennale (2005), 28th São Paulo Biennale (2008).
