Rui Calçada Bastos (Lisbon, 1971) has held several prominent solo exhibitions, including Words don’t come easy (Galeria Bruno Múrias, 2022), Inaspettatamente (Cloud Seven, Brussels, 2021), I can’t see you, but I know you’re here (Galeria Bruno Múrias, 2020), Escala 1:1 (Tabacalera, Madrid, 2018), and Walking Distance (MAAT, 2016). Notable group exhibitions include Constelações: Uma Coreografia de Gestos Mínimos (Museu Berardo, 2019), Portugal em Flagrante – Operation 3 (Fundação Gulbenkian, 2017), Super8 (MAM, Rio de Janeiro, 2013), and Unfinished Journeys (Nasjonalmuseet, Oslo, 2012). His works are part of significant collections, including Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, IVAM – Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderna, MAAT / EDP, the PLMJ Foundation, and CGAC – Centro Galego de Arte Contemporânea. He has participated in artist residencies at Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin, 2003) and Fundación Marcelino Botín (2006-2007).
