Rigo (Funchal, 1966), also known as Rigo 23, is a Portuguese artist, muralist and political activist. He settled in San Francisco in 1985, where he graduated in Fine Arts and completed his Master's degree at Stanford (1997). He is known for his public art and high-impact murals, such as One Tree (1995) and Victory Salute (2005), the latter honouring the gesture of activists at the 1968 Olympic Games. Exhibitions include retrospectives at Casa das Mudas (2006) and Galeria ZDB, Lisbon. His works are in the collections of the Serralves Museum, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the PLMJ Foundation.
