Pedro Vaz (1977) was born in Maputo, Mozambique, and lives and works in Lisbon. He graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, in 2006.
His work focuses on the themes of nature and landscape, primarily expressed through painting and video installation. Personal contact with real environments is fundamental to his practice, and these projects often involve a planned visit. His process alternates between immersion in nature through expeditions and the experience of the abstract qualities that memory reveals when working in the studio.
