Pedro Paixão

Pedro Paixão (Lobito, Angola, 1971) lives and works in Castellina Marittima, Italy. He studied Fine Arts at Ar.Co, Lisbon, and holds a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, where he graduated cum laude. He has received grants from the Luso-American Foundation, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Foundation for Science and Technology in Lisbon and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation (NY) in Venice. He has taught aesthetics at the Università IULM and has been a visiting research professor at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan. He founded and now directs the editorial project Disciplina Sem Nome for Assírio & Alvim / Documenta, with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian and Carmona e Costa Foundations, Lisbon. He was guest editor of issue 130, On the addressee, of the New York magazine New Observations, an issue presented at the New York Art Book Fair 2014, at PS1/MoMA (NY).
