Patrícia Almeida (Lisbon, 1970-2017) studied History at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and Photography at Goldsmiths College in London.
Interested in documentary photography as a territory for research and artistic creation, she began by producing works that question the individual's relationship with urban space (No Parking, 2004). In 2008, she conceived the Portobello series, a project that brings together photographs, video and slide projections and explores the imagery associated with place branding and summer holiday destinations. In 2010, as part of the BESphoto prize, he presented the exhibition All Beauty Must Die. In 2011, she founded the publishing house GHOST with David-Alexandre Guéniot and dedicates herself to publishing artist's books. In 2015, he published Ma vie va changer , with David-Alexandre Guéniot, praised by national and international critics for renewing the genre of the political and protest book from a personal and intimate point of view. Several of his books have been the starting point for solo exhibitions, videos or installations, such as 15 October 2011 (Vila Franca de Xira Biennial, 2016), Today, I'm just a butterfly sending you a sentence (Loops Festival, 2016) or I Photograph you photographing him photographing me, his latest exhibition, in 2017, at Galeria Pedro Oliveira, Porto.
