Mónica de Miranda

Mónica de Miranda (Porto, 1976) is a Portuguese artist of Angolan origin, living between Lisbon and Luanda. She holds a degree in visual arts and sculpture from Camberwell College of Arts and a PhD in Artistic Studies from Middlesex University.
Her notable exhibitions include Arquitectura e Fabricação at MAAT (2019), Doublethink: Doublevision at the Pera Museum, Istanbul (2017), and the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale (2014). Mónica is the founder of the Hangar project (Lisbon, 2014), and her work is part of collections such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and MNAC. She has received awards such as the Soros Art Grant (2023) and was a finalist for the Novo Banco Photo Prize (2016). In 2024, she will represent Portugal at the 60th Venice Biennale with the artistic project Greenhouse, alongside Sónia Vaz Borges and Vânia Gala, a creole garden inside the Palazzo Franchetti in Venice.
