Mafalda Santos

Mafalda Santos is a visual artist and programmer with an exhibition record spanning Portugal and abroad since 2001. She holds a degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto and served as a programmer at the independent space PêSSEGOpráSEMANA from 2002 to 2007. During 2007/2008, with support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and FLAD, she undertook an artist residency at Location One, New York. She was shortlisted for the EDP New Artists Prize in 2007 and the exhibition 7 artistas ao 10º mês at Gulbenkian in 2005.
Between 2013 and 2018, she managed the Moinho da Fonte Santa artist residency program, and, alongside Susana Gaudêncio, co-organised the Pessoa Coletiva project. Her work is included in prestigious collections, such as the EDP and Gulbenkian Foundations and the Portuguese State Art Collection.
