Juliana Matsumura

Juliana Matsumura (1993) was born in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, and has lived in Lisbon since 2013. Her artistic research lies at the intersection of drawing, installation, writing, and performance. She studied Drawing at Ar.Co in Lisbon and attended the Textile and Fashion programme at the University of São Paulo. She was part of the NowHere Lisbon monitoring group between 2019-2020. In 2022, she participated in the Visual Arts Course of the Luso-American Development Foundation and received support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for a residency project titled Kawa-Kami, developed at Casarão do Chá (São Paulo).
She has been exhibiting her work since 2017. In 2024, she will publish her first poetry book andar como as nuvens andam with Urutau publishing house.
