José Loureiro, born in Mangualde in 1961, lives and works in Lisbon. A graduate in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon, he began his career in the 1980s. Notable exhibitions include A Vocação dos Ácaros (2018), awarded by AICA as the best exhibition in Lisbon, O idílio habitual (2021) at Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art, Inglês Técnico para Defuntos (2022) in the Azores, and José Loureiro Croque Couuleur at FRAC Dunkirk, France (2024). His works are part of major collections, including the Berardo Collection, CGD Collection, EDP Collection, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the PLMJ Foundation, the Serralves Foundation, and the Centre Pompidou in France, establishing him as a significant figure in contemporary Portuguese art.
