José Chambel

José Chambel (1969),  born in São Tomé and Príncipe, lives and works in Portugal. He studied Photography at the Instituto Português de Fotografia. His images, which explore an aesthetic language between art and documentation, have been exhibited in individual and group exhibitions in various countries and are part of the collections of several public and private institutions, including the Centro Português de Fotografia, Centro Cultural de São João da Madeira, Fundação Ormeo Junqueira Botelho, the PLMJ Foundation, and the Coleção Lusofonias at Perve Galeria. Among his projects are Arqueologia Industrial (Portugal), Tchiloli (São Tomé and Príncipe), Tabanka (Cape Verde), and Capital (Ilha do Príncipe). He is a founding member and the current president of Plataforma Cafuka – Associação de Artistas Naturais de São Tomé e Príncipe.
