João Pedro Vale and Nuno Alexandre Ferreira are an artistic duo working across various media on themes and issues such as national identity, fascism and culture during the old regime, the politics of memory, violence, and the silencing perpetuated by dictatorships. They also address, in a continuous and significant way, the impact of HIV/AIDS and the stigma and prejudice towards the LGBTQIA+ community.
João Pedro Vale (Lisbon, 1976) graduated in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and studied at the Maumaus School.
Nuno Alexandre Ferreira (Torres Vedras, 1973) studied Sociology at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Since 2004, he has collaborated with João Pedro Vale on projects that span media such as sculpture, photography, exhibition production, performances, and films. Their extensive résumé includes the retrospective exhibition Casa Vale Ferreira at Casa de Serralves, Serralves Foundation, Porto.
