João Belga (Luanda, 1968) is a visual artist who currently lives and works in Caldas da Rainha. With a background in painting and drawing, he has been exhibiting regularly since 1997, following a unique path in the Portuguese visual arts scene. Over the years, he has presented his work in various solo and group exhibitions in places such as Art Attack, GL Box, Galeria Quadrum, Galeria Palmira Suso, Galeria ZDB, Galeria Graça Brandão, Hangar K7, Museu e Casa Bernardo, Centro de Artes das Caldas da Rainha, Centro de Artes de Sines, as well as in the MG and PLMJ collections and on the Revolver platform, among others. In 2003, together with the designer Joana Montez, he founded the artistic intervention collective Özzy Project. Since 2013 he has been a founding member and director of the cultural association NAU, and collaborates with the P. Bernardo Association, which he co-founded in 2009. In 2009 he created the brand PERMANENT DAMAGE.
