Eduardo Guerra

Portugal

Eduardo Guerra (Lisbon, 1986) began his artistic career with a brief yet impactful solo path. He was selected for the BES Revelação Prize (2010), received a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Grant for the Capacete residency program in Brazil (2011), and presented the project “O Amor de Alcibíades” (Centro de Artes Visuais, Coimbra, 2012). These moments established him as one of the prominent figures of the new generation of Portuguese artists. In 2010, he formed the duo Musa paradisiaca with Miguel Ferrão, creating an artistic universe that blends sculpture, moving image, sound, and performance. Musa paradisiaca explores orality and dialogue, challenging the boundaries between the individual and the collective, with a creative process that is collaborative and constantly evolving. The duo’s work has been presented in institutions such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Serralves Foundation, and MAAT in Portugal, and internationally at venues like Frac Pays de la Loire (Nantes), Fondation d’entreprise Pernod Ricard (Paris), Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), and Whitechapel Gallery (London). Awards and Distinctions: Selected for the FLAD Drawing Prize (2021), Sonae Media Art Prize (2015), Prémio Novos - Arts Plastiques (2015), and EDP New Artists Prize (2013). His works are part of collections such as: State Contemporary Art Collection, (Portugal), Frac des Pays de la Loire, (France), Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, (Portugal), Serralves Foundation, (Portugal), EDP Collection,(Portugal), PLMJ Foundation (Portugal), among others.
