Ana Rito

Ana Rito (Lisbon, 1978) lives and works in Lisbon. She is a researcher, curator, visual artist, author, and university professor. Ana holds a PhD in Fine Arts with a specialisation in Installation from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. She is a lecturer in the PhD Programme in Artistic Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and in the PhD Programme in Contemporary Art at the College of Arts, University of Coimbra, where she coordinates the Master’s Programme in Curatorial Studies. She is an Integrated Researcher at CEIS20 at the University of Coimbra and served as Deputy Director of the College of Arts, University of Coimbra (2020–2023). Additionally, she teaches in the Venice Curatorial Course, Venice. Since 2000, Ana has developed projects that intersect artistic and curatorial practices. Her notable curatorial projects include SHE IS A FEMME FATALE: Female Artists at the Berardo Museum Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art/CCB and One Woman Show, along with organising the film cycle in collaboration with the Temps d’Images Festival (2009); Revelações, Trânsitos e Distâncias at the Berardo Museum Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art/CCB (2011); CURATING THE DOMESTIC Images@home at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale (2013); and THE EMBODIED VISION: Performance for the Camera at the National Museum of Contemporary Art - Museu do Chiado (2014).Her works are represented in collections such as the Berado Museum, CAPC, the PLMJ Foundation, and Fundação das Casas de Fronteira e Alorna, among others.
