Ana Luísa Ribeiro is a Portuguese artist whose career reflects a combination of science and art.
Initially trained in biochemistry at the Universities of Coimbra and Lisbon, she redirected her career towards the visual arts and studied painting at Ar.Co (1988-1992). She continued her international training as an exchange student at the Royal College of Art in London and obtained a Master's in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College (1994-1995) with the support of the Gulbenkian Foundation. Her work has been influenced by research trips to the USA, Japan and Australia. She lives and works in Cologne, Lisbon and Berlin. In 2009 she was awarded the Amadeu de Sousa Cardoso Prize.
